This is an intensive reading course in Anglican theology. The readings selected for class discussion will concentrate upon the foundations of Anglican theology and polity, Anglican social teachings, and Anglican spirituality.
THE THEOLOGY OF THE PRAYER BOOK
This course studies the Sacraments and Divine Offices that are found in the Book of Common Prayer. The theology each service embodies and its place in Anglican tradition and worship are examined. Each rite is studied in relation to its contemporary significance for providing Christians with profound ways of worshipping God, creating Christian communities, and sustaining the Christian Faith.
THE ENGLISH REFORMATION
The English Reformation of the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries is the topic of this course. Class discussions are based upon primary readings from this period. The textbook introduces students to the period as a whole.
